Breitling

Breitling - is the brand under which Swiss luxury watches are produced in the canton of Jura. Received the name by the name of the founder - Leon Brightling (Léon Breitling, 1860-1914).

The history of Breitling began in 1884, when the young German Leon Braytling opened his own watch workshop in the city of Saint-Imye. Then he specialized in the production of chronographs. After 12 years, the company was already called "G. Leon Breitling S.A. Montbrillant Watch Company" and moved to La Chaux-de-Fonds, which is still considered the "capital" of watchmakers. After the death of Leon Brightling, his son Gaston and later his grandson Willy inherited his business. The merit of Gaston was the invention of the chronograph with an independent control button and a stopwatch, the accuracy of which is 1/10 sec. Willy became the creator of the unique models Navitimer and Chronomat, he continued to develop the idea of chronograph for aviation. After having signed a contract with the British Air Ministry, Willy began producing watches for the Royal Air Force. Subsequently, many more contracts were signed with global aviation companies.

August 27, 1979, when an industrial crisis hit Switzerland, Willy Brightling was forced to sell the company. Theodor and Ernest Schneider became its owners. The new owners managed to keep the leading style of Breitling watches - communication with aeronautics. The explanation is that Ernest Schneider was not only a watchmaker, but also a pilot. It was he who finally put on the Breitling watch the image of aviation, secured them a reputation for unsurpassed quality and great design. The new owner quickly managed to navigate the new technical and economic opportunities. In the early 80s, the most popular were electronic watches, because all Breitling models, the price of which was then too high, used quartz gauges. But over time, fashion has returned to the mechanical clock, people are inherent in enjoying the history, traditions and quality, which are combined in mechanical calibers.

Nowadays, Breitling is an indispensable leader in aviation.

Modern Breitling wrist watches are represented by four watch lines: Navitimer, Windrider, Aeromarine and Professional. Each line is a set of models with various designs. But the same features remain: large body, contrasting trim and appearance, simulating the cockpit.
